Privacy Policy

HLVM is a local AI runtime and desktop app. HLVM Browser Bridge is a Chrome extension that connects Chrome to the locally installed HLVM app through Chrome native messaging when the user enables Browser Context.

Data HLVM Browser Bridge Can Access

When Browser Context is enabled and the user asks HLVM to use browser context, the extension can access the current browser context needed to answer that request. This may include:

  • web history data for the current/open tab, such as tab URL and page title
  • website content, such as visible page text and page metadata
  • links on the current page
  • visible tab screenshots

The extension does not collect health information, financial information, payment information, authentication credentials, precise location, or personal identity information for its own purposes. Users should not enable Browser Context on pages they do not want HLVM to inspect.

How Data Is Used

Browser context is sent only to the local HLVM native messaging host on the user’s machine. HLVM uses this context to answer the user’s browser-context request, such as summarizing the current page, extracting links, or explaining visible content.

HLVM may process browser context with the model or provider selected by the user in the HLVM app. If the user selects a local model, processing can stay on the user’s machine. If the user selects a third-party model provider, browser context included in that request may be sent to that provider to generate the user’s requested answer.

Data Sharing

Browser context may be shared only with:

  • the locally installed HLVM desktop app/native messaging host
  • a model provider explicitly configured or selected by the user in HLVM, when needed to answer the user’s request
  • parties required by law or necessary to protect against abuse, security threats, or fraud

Data Sale, Advertising, And Credit Decisions

HLVM Browser Bridge does not sell user data, does not use user data for advertising, and does not send browser context to an extension-owned remote server. User data is not used or transferred for purposes unrelated to HLVM’s browser-context feature, and is not used for creditworthiness or lending decisions.

Data Storage

The extension keeps only temporary in-memory state required for the active browser bridge connection. HLVM may keep local logs or transcripts according to the HLVM app’s local settings and runtime behavior.

User Controls

Users can stop browser-context access by disabling Browser Context in HLVM, disconnecting the native bridge, disabling the Chrome extension, or uninstalling the extension from Chrome.

Security

The extension communicates with HLVM through Chrome native messaging to the local native host. If a user chooses a remote model provider in HLVM, network transmission to that provider should use modern transport security such as HTTPS.

Permissions

HLVM Browser Bridge requests browser permissions so it can work on the current tab the user asks about, regardless of website. Native messaging is used to communicate with the local HLVM desktop app.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

HLVM Browser Bridge’s use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes To This Policy

This policy may be updated as HLVM changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised update date.
